birthday Happy birthday to my dear sweet daughter, Sue.

Life is good! That's the saying I'm seeing on tee shirts these days and for me, at least, it's so true - life is good. I am so blessed to have a God that guides me, a family that loves me and friends (online and offline) that make me smile and bring so much joy to my life. I love you all and hold you dear to my heart.

on top of the world girl That said I guess you can tell I'm in a cheery mood and feeling on top of the world as I write this. No special reason except that I had a wonderful birthday and every day is just so special any more. Hmmm! wonder why it takes a birthday to make me treasure every day and realize how blessed I am. Whenever I figure that one out, you'll be the first to know. I promise.

I have 2 beautiful gifts to share with you today. The first one is an award that came from Judith at Pink Dreamland with the following note attached. Í received over 800 nominations of ladies who love the pixels as much as I do :O) For more information please take a look here. Turns out if you didn't win in a major category but got at least 2 nominations then you get an Honorable Mention. How great! Thanks so much, Judith.

award from Judith

The second one came from dear sweet Susan who never ceases to amaze me with her creative talents and generosity. Thanks so much, dear friend. This will make a delightful new addition to the Adopt Shoppe.

Last but not least, a beautiful bouquet from the California kids. Thanks Sue, Amanda, Tiffany and Sierra.

thanks sweet California girls

On this day every year, I look back at where I've been and what I've done. Sometimes I'm pleased and sometimes I feel like I should have done more. As the years fly by and the number gets larger, I realize that a few words in Toby Keith's song pretty much sum up where I'm at in my lifelong adventure. The words are: "I'm not as good as I once was but I'm as good once as I ever was."

I just love this quote Toni wrote on her blog so I had to post it here. If this is original to you, dear friend, you're a genius.

"Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty...they merely move it from their faces to their hearts."

housework girl I spent most of the day yesterday ironing with only a couple of welcomed breaks for Russ's infusion and coffee at Joyce's. I wish I could say that I'm finished but the truth is I still have more to finish up today. Yuck!!

I truly love the 6 months of summer we have here in Florida but I would love it a whole lot more if I didn't have to iron so much. During the rest of the year I can get away with wearing a pair of blue jeans for a couple days with only changing my tee shirt every day. Wish summer could be like that too!

If we hadn't decided to cancel our vacation plans, I would be starting to pack today. Instead of spending a few days in the Blue Ridge Mts. I'll be doing a StayCation. In other words, staying home. Andy sent this cute little graphic that seems perfect for using here.

vacation

Pretty funny, huh? There's a cruise coming up in January 09 so maybe I'll do that instead. I'm off to coffee at Joyce's now but I'll be by to visit later. Hope you're all having a great day!

Dinner at Disney yesterday was outstanding. Along with a bowl of clam chowder and a plate piled high with cesear salad, I had corn on the cob, a bucket of clams and whole red potatoes to start. I followed that up with a thin slice of prime rib, mashed potatoes, crisp green beans and italian sausage with onions and green peppers. I washed it all down with sweet tea and then headed over to the desert table for 2 lemon tarts to go with my coffee. I ate too much, I ate too fast and loved every minute.

I promised Joyce I would be home in time to help her with Russ's PICC infusion so I was home by 10:30 this morning. She did a beautiful job with a very complicated procedure and I was very impressed at how well she did with sterile technique and understanding what she was doing and why she was doing it. She's very humble and didn't handle my complimenting her very well but I think that secretly she loved hearing my comments.

I'm off to visit now so until next time . . . God bless!

Happy birthday Andy!

birthday Today is Andy's birthday so I'm off to the farm again. We'll be taking him to Disney's Yacht & Beach Club for their clambake dinner. It's one of his favorite places to eat so he should be pleased with the surprise we have planned for him. I'll probably be back home on Tuesday afternoon or on Wednesday morning for sure. Until then . . . God bless!

So happy to see that Connie's back!!

Since I haven't posted in a few days I have some catching up to do! On Tuesday, Joyce took her hubby Russ to the cardiologist for a routine appointment that ended with his admission to Florida Hospital. He came home yesterday with a PICC line and will be getting IV antibiotics for the next 10 days. The Home Care Nurse is coming today to teach Joyce how to handle the PICC line and give the meds. I'm gonna be there when she's taught so both of us get the instruction. The last time I saw a PICC line was in 1996, the year I retired, so I'm wondering if the procedure has changed since then.

I finished another puzzle yesterday called Prairie Wind Flowers. So pretty! I really like this one.

prairiewindflowers

Hooray! We have an SS to do today! Thanks Toni.

~~Creative Adventure XV ~ Fill In The Blanks~

1. While on vacation the past two weeks, I took the time to visit an old amusement park that is now abandoned. Hearing what sounds like carousel music I decided to enter the park through the open gate and much to my surprise I see an old merry-go-round going round and round.

2. Waiting for the ride to stop I find myself getting up on one of the horses.

3. Feeling like a young kid again I close my eyes, smile and hum along with the music until it stops.

4. Now a little sad I realize it was all in my imagination and leaving the park I think to myself one of these days I'm gonna find a carousel I can ride for real.

Tonight is Girl's Nite Out and we're going to Bob Evans. Haven't been there in a while so I think I'll be trying one of their new entrees. I'm off to make a few visits now so until next time . . . God bless!

busy car shop girl I had nothing special planned for today so when I heard a knock on the door and Ted stood there asking if I wanted to go for a ride and check out some of the back roads around here, I said 'yes'. I sometimes forget there is still so much beautiful farmland and so many huge cattle ranches here in South Central Florida. The highlight of the ride were the acres and acres of Caladium farms we saw. No matter what direction you looked in, the ground was filled with Caladiums in a variety of colors. The view was breathtaking. I had no idea that such beautiful flowers were raised so close to where I live. Here's what Caldiums look like.

caladiums

We stopped at the Golden Corral in Lake Placid for lunch and returned home just in time for coffee at Joyce's. So what looked to be a boring day turned into a wonderful adventure day. Thanks Ted.

This little thingie came yesterday in an email from Ginny. It actually works!! and I find that so amazing that here I am sharing it with you.

YOUR AGE BY DINER & RESTAURANT MATH

It takes less than a minute. Work this out as you read .
Be sure you don't read the bottom until you've worked it out!
This is not one of those waste of time things, it's fun.

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you would like to go out to eat. (more than once but less than 10).
2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)
3. Add 5
4. Multiply it by 50
5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1758...
If you haven't, add 1757.
6. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.
You should have a three digit number

The first digit of this was your original number. ( I. E., How many times You want to go out to restaurants in a week.)

The next two numbers are YOUR AGE ! ------ (Oh YES, it is!)

I'm sitting here wondering where the w/e went and remembering that I spent a good deal of it at ebay bidding on Charles Wysocki puzzles. There's a list of his puzzles at Puzzle History and I use the list to track those I've completed and those I've yet to do. For some strange reason I decided to see which ones from the first series I missed and set out to see if I could find some of them for sale on ebay and as luck would have it - I did! Needless to say I spent way too much money but I'm really excited at finding them and can't wait till they are delivered.

I guess this will be a short entry cause I can't think of another interesting thing to share with you so I'm off to tag. Until next time . . . God bless!

busy car shop girl I took a spur of the moment trip to the farm on Wednesday. There was several things I needed to do there and I wanted to shop at Cracker Barrel again and pick up more quilts and accessories. Got that done and returned home this afternoon.

Did anyone watch America's Greatest Dog on CBS last night? As a dog lover, I really liked the idea and wondered what kind of show it would be. I wasn't all that impressed with the last night's premiere show but I'll watch again next week to see if things improve. The judges' need to friendly up a bit and the contestants need to relax.

michael and ezzie

The first doggy and owner to be voted off last night was Ezzie a Boston Terrier and his owner, Michael.

Tonight is Meerkat Manor at 9 o'clock so you know what I'll be doing. I'm off to visit and catch up on what's going on with all of you. Hope you had a wonderful day. Until next time . . . God bless!

laundry girl I'll be busy with laundry in the morning and then hope to spend some time at the pool if the summer rains stay away until later this afternoon. All eyes here are watching our first hurricane of the season. It seems Bertha has faked out the forecasters by turning into a hurricane after they predicted she would stay a tropical storm. Doesn't help with my confidence in their predictions.

I had the winning bid for 2 more puzzles on ebay last night. One is called "Red Whale Inn" and the other is "Enterprising Immigrants". Both are Americana country style and very pretty pictures. I missed several of the puzzles that came out in 2004 and 2005 so I'm trying to catch up on getting some of those. If you get the impression that I may be addicted to Charles Wysocki puzzles you'd be right cause I am. It's a wonderful hobby so if I'm going to be addicted to something I'm glad it's puzzles.

Connie has gone missing again. It seems her Dell has a virus and it's in the shoppe right now. Hope she gets fixed and is back with us soon. I miss you Connie. Hope you have a happy day today. Until next time . . . God bless!

Yesterday's potluck picnic was great! The ladies here are great cooks and potlucks are a perfect way for them to share their specialty dishes with us. I had to sample everything and wound up eating way too much and loving every minute of it.

After the picnic we played cardBingo and the tables were full. There were 8 tables of players so each pot was bigger than our regular Wednesday game. Many of the players were 'first-timers' so it looks like we'll have more players on Wednesday from now on.

One of my new puzzles came on Thursday so I'll be starting it today and resting a bit. Hope your day is a happy one. Until next time . . . God Bless.

dogwashweekly shopping Dahli goes to the groomer today and I go grocery shopping. Not my favorite thing to do but I need to do a little stocking up again and pick up a cold, juicy watermelon for tomorrow's 4th of July picnic. Is there anything better than a slice of cold watermelon on a hot summer day? I don't think so.

The other reason I couldn't sleep last night was the 'boil water alert'. Did I mention that we've been on a 'boil water alert' the past few days? Yesterday when I went to cardBingo, it was the topic of conversation not because we had to boil water but because a lot of the folks didn't know that a boil water alert had been issued. I'm really kicking myself because I spent several weeks putting together a telephone tree for just such an occasion and do you think that I thought about using it?? I'm not in charge of the telephone tree but I'm sure that if I had suggested it to Rodney he would have thought it was a good idea and had all the callers call their people to let them know.

The other sad part is that most of those at cardBingo didn't even know we had a telephone tree. Yikes!! So at the picnic on Friday, we're gonna have to catch everyone up on what a telephone tree is and why we have one and apologize for not using it.

I posted another sweet premade from Susan in the Adopt Shoppe today. Isn't she just the cutest? I sure think so!

kiss goodnight

I know I haven't been around to visit these last few days so I'm off to do that now! Until next time . . . Happy 4th of July.

computer girl It's 1 o'clock in the morning and I don't seem to be able to sleep. It's one of those nights when your mind just won't shut off and you lay there thinking instead of sleeping. So here I am messing with my web page because . . .

Judy happened to mention the other day that she was glad that I finally fixed my blog cuz she was now able to see it w/o doing a lot of scrolling. The only problem is - I didn't do anything to fix it. All that happened was I started a new page for July. Her comment got me to thinking though and I remembered that Ginny had said the same thing a while back but I never thought much about it thinking she was probably trying to view my site with the screen minimized instead of full screen. But when Judy mentioned it I knew something was terribly wrong. Some sort of html mistake I guess because I hadn't done anything to fix it.

I'm thinking that instead of using %'s for the columns, I should be using whole numbers so I've changed that and hopefully solved the problem. I'll check with Judy in the morning to see if it's looking ok to her. So glad she let me know. And if anyone else had the same problem - would you let me know? Thanks.

I think I'll try and get some sleep now. Good night and God bless!

Happy month of July.

housework girl I had planned on cleaning my little house yesterday but . . . a water main break meant our water was turned off almost all day so cleaning was put on hold until today. We're on a 'boil water alert' until tomorrow. Thankfully I have a supply of gallons of water to use instead of boiling.

mynaughtythunderclouds Around 4 o'clock, my weather radio went off anouncing a tornado warning for our area. Dahli and I headed over to the Club House and met up with all my neighbors over there. We sat and chatted until 4:45 when the warning was cancelled. The storm clouds have all passed so I think it's safe to be on my puter now. Thankfully ours is a happy ending.

Well that's my exciting news for today! Hope the first of July was a happy one for you! Until next time . . . God bless!

I started today's entry this morning - ran out of time - so I'm finishing it up this evening. Anyway . . . bride Yesterday's wedding was just beautiful. Gloria wore a 2 piece long dress in an eggshell color that had a beaded top and jacket. They exchanged their vows in a small historic church that was filled with family and friends. The reception was in the church's newly renovated hall where we had a light lunch. The main attraction was a table with 2 fountains of flowing chocolate with strawberries, bananas, pineapple and grapes set out for dipping. Everyone flocked to that table. It was dee-lish and a fun touch. No piccies to share because 'you know who' forgot her camera but Jan took tons of pictures and she's going to let me download hers. Once I do that I'll share them with you.

Here's my satspecial for yesterday called: ~Questions, Silly Questions~

1. Who is the last person you talked to? Gloria Carnahan, who came down from Toronto for the other Gloria's wedding.
2. What is your weather like right now? Surprise! Surprise! It's raining!
3. Where will you be this weekend? At the Wedding, at the pool, at Coffee Hour, at Mass and as always Shopping.
4. What's for dinner tonight? Leftovers! from Friday and Saturday!
Thanks for a silly fun one, Toni.

I'm ran up to Dillard's at Eagle Ridge Mall in Lake Wales after Mass. So much good stuff was on sale. Found a kacki shirtwaist with a self belt that was $89.00 then $54 and I got it for $40.00. Also got a pair of capri's in white polished cotton that were $59 then $39 and I got them for $26.99. It doesn't happen very often so it's thrilling when I do get some great bargains.

Wondering what's good on TV tonight. The rain has stopped so I'll be running up to the dog walk with Dahli and then I'll be around to tag. Hope you all had a wonderful w/e!

thanks Susan

My WiFi was down almost all day today. I figured it was just a temporary thing but when it lasted several hours I decided to call Don Briggs and find out what was going on. Turned out there was a problem and he wasn't aware of it so I'm glad I made the call otherwise it still would be down.

I just got home from dinner with our 'Ladies Nite Out' group. I've had such a taste for a cheeseburger so that's what I ordered not knowing I would get this huge hamburger patty. I topped it with lettuce, tomato and mayonaise. It was dee-lish and my craving for a burger is not only satisfied but half of it came home with me for lunch tomorrow. Did I mention that I also brought home a cherry cheese turnover that I'll be eating while I watch Meerkat Manor tonight?

bride Lot's of hustle and bustle around here today. Tomorrow is the wedding day of my neighbor, Gloria. Her kids, Molly and Sam are here. Marvin's children are here too so there's cars parked all over the place. It seems like just yesterday that she announced her engagement. I'm looking forward to the ceremony and reception tomorrow and hope I get some good piccies to share with you. Until then . . . God bless!
